High-level visit of the UNHCR Liaison Office to ECOWAS and ECCAS to the ECOWAS Commission

ECOWAS Commission received today, 14 August 2024 a delegation from UNHCR Liaison Office to ECOWAS and ECCAS at his HQ in Abuja,Nigeria.

The objective of the mission is to strenghten partnerships as they advance towards sustainable programming.

The Delogation of UNHCR comprised of Mr. Raouf Mazou, UNHCR Assistant High Commissioner for Operations, Mrs. Ruvendrini Menikdiwela, UNHCR Assistant High Commissioner for Protection, both based in Geneva, and Mr. Abdouraouf Gnon-Konde, Bureau Director, UNHCR Regional Bureau for West and Central Africa, based in Dakar.

From ECOWAS side, representing the President of the ECOWAS Commission, the Vice-President of ECOWAS took part in the exchange. She was accompanied by representatives of the Political Affairs, Peace and Security Department, the Director of Humanitarian and Social Affairs, and representative of ECOWAS early warning Directorate of the ECOWAS Commission.

The two partners reaffirmed their commitment to work for humanitarian actions with a more remarkable regional impact.

The mission is taking place from 12 to 16 August 2024.
