African Union Executive Council Convenes with RECs Presidents and CEOs to Address Continent's Key Priorities

The 46th Ordinary Session of the African Union (AU) Executive Council kicked off today,12 February 2025, bringing together African Foreign Ministers and CEOs of Regional Economic Communities (RECs) to discuss Africa's key priorities.
The meeting began with a moment of silence in memory of Namibia's Founding President, the late H.E. Dr. Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma, the last of Africa's Founding Fathers.
During the session, the RECs Presidents and CEOs will engage in discussions on regional integration, AU institutional reform, and Africa's key priorities, including economic development, peace and security, and climate change.
The participation of RECs CEOs in this session underscores the importance of regional cooperation and coordination in achieving Africa's development goals.
The 46th Ordinary Session of the AU Executive Council will run until 13 February 2025 and is expected to adopt key decisions and recommendations to advance Africa's agenda.
